Duke Whitman Obituary

Written by: Duke’s family

Some people add their fur babies when their kids are small. We decided to add ours because our house just hadn’t felt complete yet,  even with five kiddos. We always knew rescue animals had a special place in our hearts. As a family we went to the shelter, seeing all kinds of dogs. There sat the biggest dog in the whole shelter with crossed paws and the cleanest pin. We took him out, he did his business, and played with the kids. He ran, chased a ball, and began to clearly fill the hole we had in our hearts. The happiness on Duke’s face was contagious. He knew we were his forever; all of us! He spent the last seven years of his life with us, chasing balls, playing hide and seek, going swimming, taking car rides, playing in the snow, receiving millions of kisses, taking walks, snuggling, and getting belly rubs. Duke loved fruits and veggies, but his all-time favorite treat was chocolate chip cookies. He smiled and did tricks. He was also in the newspaper for Doggie Days at Goode’s.

Duke will forever be loved and missed. He was THE BEST dog in the whole world! Duke is survived by his loving family: dad, Brad; momma, Joann; brothers, Eli, Bryan, and Austin; sisters, Hayleigh and Morgan; and fur brothers, Remington, Rambo, Ninja, and Speckles.
