Rita L. (Booher) Lewis

Rita L. Lewis, age 72, of Tipton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 13, 2018. 

Rita was born on September 14, 1946, in Tipton to the late Melburn and Nellie Booher. She attended Tipton High School and was a lifelong resident of Tipton. 

Rita spent her days dedicated to being a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. For this, her family is grateful! Rita was an amazing cook and made many special memories with her family around the dinner table. She loved to read books of any kind, as well as listen to music. Rita preferred country music, and especially enjoyed artists such as Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash. 

Rita’s children would describe her as a woman who knew what she wanted. She was strong willed, always told the truth, and saw the value in letting others know how she felt. 

Those left to carry on Rita’s legacy of love are her children, Kevin (Dawn) Lewis of Tipton, Jeff Lewis of Tipton, and Thomas (Mandy) Lewis of Tipton. Grandchildren, Brittani Lewis, Kaden Lewis, Cameron Lewis, Caycie Lewis, Billy Lewis, Sable Lewis, Brooklyn Lewis, Lelan Lewis, and Chloe Lewis. Great grandchild, Braxton Lewis. 

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Melburn and Nellie Booher, as well as three sisters and three brothers. 

Funeral service celebrating Rita’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 2:00PM at Taylor and Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton, with Pastor Chuck Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday two hours prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
