Abby Gibson Obituary

Abby Gibson, age 11, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 15, 2023. She was born November 24, 2012 in San Diego, California. She was a true Cali girl.  She also lived in Nevada, Tennessee and Indiana throughout her life.

She came to her furever home on February 16, 2013. In the 10 1/2 years with her family, she brought so much joy, laughter and loved unconditionally.

She was a unique gal; a few of her favorite things were swimming in the pool, riding in the car, riding on her golf cart and having coffee. Abby loved to have cheerios and banana every morning with her 2nd favorite person.  She thought that every human that came to the house were obviously there to see her!

Abby loved going to the mailbox to get the mail. She was always given the junk mail to carry and put it in the trash. She would sit and wait for her family to finish a bottle of water and then grab the bottle so she could put it in the recycle. Abby was such an intelligent dog. She could be taught to do anything after only a couple times of showing her.   She Retrieved shoes, her food bowl, learned to pull the rope on the screen door to let herself in and many, many other things.

When anyone in the house was sick, she stayed with them and never left their side until they were better.  Abby helped her Grandma Lee through the anxiety that comes with dementia just by laying beside and letting her pet her for hours.

In the spring, Abby loved to lay next to her mom, Brenda, in the yard while she planted flowers. When the flowers started blooming Abby would always walk around and smell all of them. She would stick her nose deep inside the bloom so she could get the full effect.  She had a love for flowers just like Brenda.  Her mom will miss this next spring and every spring after.

Her family made a bucket list for her and it was completed a couple weeks ago. Number one on that list was swimming. We found a kennel in Fishers that gifted her an hour of swim time in their indoor pool. She was so happy to be swimming again.  They will be forever thankful to them for their kindness.

Abby was a maniac when she got the zoomies. Someone once said she was a fat thing, well, she wasn’t fat she was fluffy!  She had so many toys but her favorites were Dory, racoony and Rudy.

Her family hopes that she felt as much love from them as they felt from her. They will miss their girl everyday for the rest of their lives.  Rest well in Heaven baby girl!
