Betty Cox Obituary

Betty (Montgomery) Cox, age 76, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023 at her daughter, Tammy’s house; where she had lived and been loving cared for over the past 8 years. Betty’s transition from this life to the next was made a little easier because she was surrounded by her children and precious family.

Betty was born on May 31, 1946 in Martinsville, IN to her parents, Lorenzo Montgomery & Beatrice (Wells) Montgomery. She grew up and went to school in Rushville, IN; which is where she met her husband, Danny Cox. The two moved to Tipton shortly after they were married to begin a life together. Unfortunately, their marriage didn’t last, but the two remained friends and were forever grateful for their four beautiful children.

Betty worked for the children’s home in Arcadia as well as Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton. It goes without saying that Betty was a natural caregiver and had a very kind heart. She often made others laugh with her constant pranks. You could often find Betty enjoying her country music. She also enjoyed taking care of her home. Betty was a “put together” kind of person. She took great pride in her appearance as well as maintaining a tidy home.  She was an amazing cook and enjoyed serving her family as well as her friends. Betty’s lively and fun spirit made life better for everyone around her! The absolute best part of life for Betty was her grandkids! She absolutely adored each of them, and often spoke of how proud she was to be a grandma! Betty will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her!

Those left to carry on Betty’s legacy of love are her children, Steve Cox of Elwood, IN, Cathy Miller of Cicero, IN, Tammy (John) Cox of Nevada, IN; grandchildren, Wesley (Audra) Miller of Decatur, IN, Benjamin (Kelsie) Raquet of Clearwater, FL, Shane (Kayla) Raquet of Mexico, IN; great grandchildren, MJ, Kendall, Rainbow, Elyonna, Landon, Jaylee, Kayson; and a sister, Rebecca Davis of Shelbyville, IN. Betty was welcomed into Heaven by her son, Jason Cox; grandson, Torey Cox; great grandson, King Raquet; siblings, Stephen Montgomery, Eugene Montgomery, Patricia Saxon, Loretta Stafford, Dorothy Davis; as well as the father of her children, Danny Cox.

Betty’s family would like to extend tremendous thanks to the good people at Paradigm Health for the exceptional care they provided; with special thanks extended to hospice nurse, Jeff Louks!

Additional thanks extended to all family and friends who took the time to reach out, pray, visit, and prepare food. The love shown during this trying time is greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten!

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date and will be updated here. Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cox family in their time of need. To leave an online condolence or share a special memory of Betty with her family please visit her obituary page.
