Bruce Robertson

Bruce Robertson, age 76, of Tipton, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 4, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to his parents, Claude & Virginia (Summers) Robertson. Bruce married the love of his life, Sandy Scott on January 25, 1974, at the Alto Road Church of Christ in Kokomo, Indiana.  They shared 49 years of marriage, raised two wonderful sons, and shared a lifetime of memories.

Bruce was a graduate of Texarkana High School, class of 1964.  After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving our country.  He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan where he worked as a satellite tracker and volunteered as a scout leader for local military children. He received his education in electronics while in the air force, which led him to Kokomo to work for Delco Electronics where he worked as an electrical engineer.  He retired from Delco, however, he never really stopped working. He enjoyed his job and worked through several contracts. 

Bruce was an active member of the Center Road Church of Christ. His faith was very important to him, it carried him through his entire life.

Bruce loved cars. He shared his love of cars with his sons as they would go to car shows, “window shop,” or just discuss automotive news regularly. If anyone had an automotive question, they knew they could call Bruce for assistance or information. He enjoyed photography whether it was people, cars, weddings, nature, or travel, he loved to capture life’s beauty through the lens. 

Above all else, family was the most important element in Bruce’s life. His family meant everything to him and he would take every opportunity to tell them “I love you,” and “I’m so proud of you.” He radiated such joy when he could talk about his grandchildren and the fun they had. 

Bruce was known for being a people person. He had a quirky way of interacting with anyone that could make them feel like the most important person in that moment.  Bruce had a group of friends from his days at Delco with whom he kept in close contact. 

Those left to carry on Bruce’s legacy of love is his wife, Sandy Robertson; sons, Bryan (Kara) Robertson, John (Kimberly) Robertson; grandchildren, Kairi, Oliver, Myles; brother, Richard Robertson; niece, Sarah (Jay) Robertson- McCoy; great niece, Anna Katherine, and family dog, Barkley.

Bruce was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Claude & Virginia Robertson, and his mother-in-law Daffo Scott.

A funeral service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. In Tipton, with Pastors Lynn Brust & Bobby Price officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, to the service from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home and on April 29, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the start of service.
