Carol Margaret Humphreys, 79, of Ionia, MI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 5, 1945, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Raymond and Margaret (Johanssen) Gieszl.
Carol graduated from San Leandro High School in 1963. She was a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church in Ionia. She loved God and had unwavering faith in His love, presence, and provision. Her greatest joy in life was raising her five children, whom she loved sacrificially, choosing to stay at home to nurture and guide them. Later, she worked cleaning houses and offices, where she found special fulfillment in spending time with her elderly clients.
Carol’s deep love for people, especially her family, defined her. She was a compassionate, empathetic listener, and many turned to her for comfort and advice. Known for her generous spirit and fun-loving nature, she was full of life. Carol enjoyed Gospel music, singing, dancing, taking road trips, and knitting, even if her projects were often left unfinished.
Carol’s legacy of love continues through her children: David (Mary) Geivett, Jennifer (Jason) Humrichous, Gwendolyn (Joshua) Wilhite, Julianne Geivett, and Annamarie (Peter) Edgar; her grandchildren: Nick Geivett, Samantha (Adam) Donovan, Lynnea Humrichous, Ben Humrichous, Joe Humrichous, Sam Humrichous, Noah Humrichous, Isaac Humrichous, Maggie Wilhite, Anna Wilhite, Hope Wilhite, Alex Geivett, Elijah Edgar, Evelyn Edgar, Jane Edgar, and Clare Edgar; and her great-grandchildren: Logan Donovan and Autumn Donovan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Margaret Gieszl; her husband, Basil Humphreys; her sister, Marie Huckaby; her brother, John Gieszl; and Gerald Geivett.
A funeral service to honor Carol’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Rock Prairie Baptist Church, 421 Ash Street, Tipton. Visitation will take place before the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church, with the committal at Fairview Cemetery.
