Carolyn Burket Obituary

Carolyn May (Miller) Bolton Burket, age 94, of Tipton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born on September 29, 1929, to the late Howard Miller and Ruth (Holsinger) Miller.  She married Wendell Bolton in 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1987. In 2011, Carolyn married Donald Burket and he passed away in 2012.

Carolyn graduated from Jackson Central High School in the class of 1947. She worked for Tipton Hospital in admissions for many years. Carolyn was also secretary for First Baptist Church in Tipton.

Through the years Carolyn kept herself very busy! She of course tended to all the affairs of her home, but she was also very active in her church. She was bus captain, played the piano and sang in the church choir. Carolyn was incredibly dedicated to her family as well. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. For many years she made all of her children’s clothes. She was also incredibly dedicated to gardening. Carolyn would freeze and can all of her own veggies so they could be enjoyed all year long. Carolyn truly went the extra mile in everything she was involved in. She was kindhearted, dependable, and incredibly strong in her faith. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her!

Those left to carry on Carolyn’s legacy of love are her daughters, Debra (Timothy) Gensch of Florida, Susan (Lynch) Denicola of Elwood, Indiana; siblings, Jean (Alan) Dunn of Tipton, Indiana, Fred (Marilyn) Miller of Atlanta, Indiana; grandchildren, Christina Cumings of Alabama, Nancy (David) Monroe of North Carolina, Robert (Claire) Buecker of Maryland; great grandchildren, Collin (Sarah) Horton of Fishers, Indiana, Mikalya Cumings of Yorktown, Indiana, Britany & Ashley Heath of Tennessee; great-great grandchildren, Jane Twigg, Ellie Twigg, and Robert Buecker IV; and many great-great-great grandchildren.

Carolyn was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Wendell Bolton; parents, Howard & Ruth Miller; brothers, James (Lou) Miller, Lawrence (Bonnie) Brehm; sister, Louise Webb; son, Thomas Wendell Bolton; grandson, Scott Heath; granddaughter, Susan Gensch.

Out of respect for Carolyn’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve Carolyn’s family in their time of need. Please feel free to leave an online condolence or share a special memory of Carolyn with her family on her tribute wall.
