Carolyn J. (Mahaney) Comstock

Carolyn Jean (Mahaney) Comstock, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  Carolyn was born in Allen County, Kentucky on June 3, 1943, to her parents, Boob & Pernie Bell (Stinson) Mahaney. Carolyn married the love of her life, Jimmy Comstock Sr. on May 25, 1963, and the two shared over 59 years together and a lifetime of special memories.  

Carolyn attended high school in Allen County, Kentucky, in the class of 1961.  She met Jimmy in Kentucky while he was working as a lineman.  She cleaned houses and enjoyed her work.  A job opportunity brought them to Indiana.  She began working at Delco from where she retired in 1999.

Carolyn was an incredibly nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother.  She cared for everyone that crossed her path.  Her family was everything to her.  She and Jimmy were extremely close; the reunion they had in Heaven after a short time apart we are certain was nothing short of joyful. Their children described them as “attached at the hip”. Simply put, they were the best of friends, and their loving commitment to one another was precious and endearing.

Carolyn’s faith was strong, and she was a proud member of Rock Prairie Baptist Church. She had a very sweet spirit that will be missed so dearly.  Her family will think of her every time they hear the opening piano to The Young & the Restless, she never missed an episode!

Those left to carry on Carolyn’s legacy of love are her children, Demitta Starr Reed, Jimmy Comstock Jr.; grandchildren, Amber Reed, JJ Reed, Kasey (Jon) Groome, Zachary Comstock, Hannah Comstock; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Reed, Liron Austin, Bellah Reed, Haven Groome, Hunter Groome; and several nieces & nephews.

Carolyn was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Jimmy Comstock Sr.; parents, Boob & Pernie Bell Mahaney; and siblings, Jeanette Garmon, Wilma Spivey, Francis McClard, Martha Shields, Paul Mahaney, Calston Mahaney, Donnie Mahaney, Bobby Mahaney, Delvin Mahaney, and James Mahaney.

A funeral service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton. Visitation for family & friends will take place prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home with pastor Jerry Markins officiating. Burial will take place in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery immediately following the service.
