Charles John Hunter II “Johnny”, age 62, of Tipton, graduated to his heavenly home on Wednesday June 7, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 10, 1960 to his parents, John Hunter & Polly (Short) Hunter. Johnny married the love of his life, Laura (Miller) Hunter on October 3, 2003, and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2019. The two shared a precious love that was inspiring to everyone around them.
Johnny graduated from Taylor High School in the class of 1978. He was self- employed for several years, and did well with many different types of work. Unfortunately, Johnny was in a serious auto accident and was disabled for most of his adult life. He never let his condition get him down. Johnny had a wild spirit, and was never afraid to push himself and take risks. If he occasionally got himself into trouble he could usually figure a way out of it.
Johnny was a member at the Church of Christ in Tipton, and his faith was important to him. He loved watching John Wayne movies, as well as Marilyn Monroe. Johnny could often be found tinkering around and working with his hands. He loved his cats and he loved to ride. He was a proud member of the ABATE Riders Club of Indiana. Johnny was kindhearted, uplifting to others, and could talk to anyone about anything. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him!
Those left to carry on Johnny’s legacy of love are his dad, John Hunter Sr.; sisters, Misti (Ron) Evans of Kokomo, Mel (Hans) Eby of Tipton; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Johnny was welcomed into Heaven by his wife, Laura Hunter; mom, Polly Hunter; brother, Jeff Hunter; grandparents, Charles & Josie (Strong) Hunter and Raymond & Docia (McCalpin) Short.
A graveside service in Johnny’s honor will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton, with Pastor John Ankrum officiating. A line of procession will begin promptly at 10:45 AM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. In Tipton.
