Cheryl Rose (McBride) Gilbert, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2023 with her loving granddaughter by her side. She was born on January 18, 1950 in Bryan, Ohio, to her parents, Edward McBride & Deloris (Harmon) McBride.
Cheryl graduated from Lewis Cass High School in the Class of 1968. She retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo, Indiana after many years of employment. In Cheryl’s younger years she enjoyed riding motorcycles and training horses. As the years went by Cheryl began to enjoy birdwatching, reading Stephen King novels, working crossword puzzles, fixing things, and spending quality time with those she loved. Without a doubt, Cheryl’s favorite thing in life was talking and visiting with her kids and grandkids. They were her heart, and she beamed with pride for each of them. Throughout Cheryl’s life she kept a positive attitude, and always encouraged others to do the same! She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her!
Those left to carry on Cheryl’s legacy of love are her children, Brian (Maria) Cripe, Hickory Gilbert; grandchildren, Kiera Gremelspacher, Kylie Hayden, Quinn Cole, Shealyn Horn, Aedan Cripe, Caleb Cripe; great grandchildren, Marston Toman, Jaxxin Hayden, Cillian Horn, Serenity Toman (to arrive in March 2023); and sister, Marlene (Mike) Mahaffie.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Deloris McBride; and brother, Kenneth McBride.
Out of respect for Cheryl’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gilbert family in their time of need. Please feel free to leave an online condolence or share a special memory of Cheryl with her family on her tribute wall.
