David Eugene DeCrane
David DeCrane, age 83, of Tipton, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. David was born on January 24, 1938 in Moline, Illinois to Alphonse DeCrane and Ella (VanAltreve) DeCrane.
David graduated in 1956 from Moline High School and earned his civil engineering license form Blackhawk Community College and through an apprenticeship. After his engineering career, David owned Greenwald Insurance in Galena, Illinois. In 1961, David married Judith Marie (Corbin) and they enjoyed 60 years together.
David enjoyed woodworking, gardening and landscaping. He is responsible for building many pieces of furniture for his family. David had the ability to make just about any plant or vegetable grow, and he thankfully passed his green thumb on to his children.
Those left to carry on David’s legacy of love are his Wife, Judith DeCrane; Children, Mark (Susan) DeCrane, Paula Gagliano, Karen (Patrick) Ruprecht; Grandchildren, Olivia DeCrane, Conner Gagliano, Madeline Ruprecht, Sophie Ruprecht, Audrey Ruprecht; Brother, Duane (Carla) DeCrane; Niece and Nephew, Sandra (Troy) Erickson, Randy Dulaney; as well as several cousins and extended family members.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton, IN. A funeral mass celebrating David’s life will be held following visitation at 10:30am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 1306 S. A St. in Elwood, IN, with Father Dennis Goth officiating. Interment will take place immediately following service in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Tipton, IN.
