David Jerome Powell

David Jerome Powell, age 67, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 1, 1955 to his parents, Francis Powell & Betty Jo (Crail) Powell.  

Dave graduated from Tipton High School in the class of 1974. Through the years, Dave worked as a custodian for Tipton Community School Corporation. He also worked for Baird Farms and Miller's Merry Manor. Dave was extremely reliable and had an impeccable work ethic. 

Dave was one of a kind and left a lasting impression. He had the unique gift of making everyone who crossed his path feel valuable and important. He was a jokester, and often the life of the party. In Dave’s spare time, you may have found him watching westerns, or fixing things around the house. More than anything, Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, and was a very proud father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him!  

Those left to carry on Dave’s legacy of love are his children, Melissa (Joshua) Dillon, Paul Powell, Andrew (Mary) Powell, Macayla (Jared) Kimbrough; grandchildren, Megan Ewers, Evan Powell, Ellie Powell, Emma Powell, Beckett Powell, Baylor Powell, Elijah Westfall, Ezra Kimbrough, and Theodore Kimbrough; great grandchild, Myles Maddox; siblings, Steve (Karen) Powell, Bill (Carol) Powell, Kevin Powell, Beth Rippy; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dorothy McAdams, Danny Powell, and Jeff Powell.  

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. In Tipton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dave’s honor can be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home during visitation time.
