David Alan Thomas

David Alan Thomas, age 52, of Kokomo, was welcomed into Heaven on Friday, December 18, 2020. He passed away at Howard Community Hospital after a long battle with cancer.  David was born on March 30, 1968 in Swansboro, North Carolina to his parents, Richard L. Sr. & Margaret G. (Fuquay) Thomas.

David was a graduate of Pike High School in Indianapolis, class of 1986.  He was a cabinet maker for many years, he even made the cabinets in his mother’s kitchen.  He also worked many years as the head cook for Damon’s and Red Lobster, both in Kokomo.

David was the type of person who loved to make other’s laugh.  He was incredibly funny and was always teasing someone.  He could talk to anyone; he truly never knew a stranger!  He was an exceptionally caring person.  Everyone he met felt the deep, pure heart he had for others.  He would give of himself to anyone that needed a hand without a second thought about it.  He loved animals and was a great cook; his specialty was lasagna.

Those left to carry on David’s legacy of love are his Mother, Margaret Fuquay; Stepfather, Robert Fuquay; Grandmother, Ruth Walker; Siblings, Richard (Tracy) Thomas, Debbie (Matt) Butler, Amy (Brad) Gooding, Denise (John Cornejo) Luttrell; Aunts, Geri Hudelson and Patti Shaffer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and very dear cousins.

David was preceded in death by his Father, Richard L. Thomas Sr.; and his Grandparents Robert & Francis Thomas Sr. and Lon (Poppy) Walker.

A funeral service celebrating David’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 3:00pm at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N Main St in Tipton, with Pastor Jerry Markins officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to service from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the funeral home.
