Dexter's family wrote a beautiful tribute to him:

Dexter Morgan Crouch, also known as Peter, was the sweetest boy to his two moms Lyndsea and Ashley Crouch. He had a brother Oakley, and they were the best of friends and thick as thieves. He was found on the streets of Elwood by his moms in 2014 in poor health and brought back to life and continued to live out the next 9 years with his family of 1 other dog, 5 cats and 48 chickens. He loved being snuggled and sleeping right in the middle of the bed, which is just right where he belonged. He passed over the rainbow bridge being snuggled tight just like he loved the most. We love you Peter.
