Obituary

Dolores “Dee” Ilene Kendall Weston was a caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She entered the gates of heaven on June 29, 2023, at age 88.

She was born to Clyde and Pauline (Kline) Overly on October 26, 1934. She married the love of her life, William “Billie” Ray Kendall, on April 15, 1951 (enjoying 44 years of marriage until his death). Together, they had three children: Kent, Larry, and Michael. Following the death of her first husband in 1995, Dee was married to John Weston until his death in 2018.

People loved Dee’s sense of humor and her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. She enjoyed home-life. She loved spending time in the kitchen cooking for her family and gardening. Dee loved music. When she was younger, she sang and played guitar in a local country band, TW Buds. In the 1960s Dee and Bill enjoyed belonging to a square dance club in Tipton. Her mother was from Silver Lake, Indiana, and Dee always looked forward to visits from aunts, uncles, and cousins from that area. Her grandchildren enjoyed sleepovers, playing the organ with her at times, and traveling with her to Tennessee for family vacation and reunions. One of her much loved holiday traditions was making Christmas cookies for and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dee loved art and was a creative soul. She regularly drew personal birthday cards and pictures for her children and grandchildren. From 1976 to 1980 she served as First Lady of Tipton during her husband Bill's time as Mayor of Tipton, Indiana. After many years working at Pioneer, Dee worked as a healthcare worker at the Sisters of St. Joseph convent, until she was almost 80 years old.

Dee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill; son, Mike; sister, Marcia (Max) Tilley; parents, Clyde & Pauline; grandchildren, Sarah and Ashley Rich; and great-granddaughter, Kolby. She is survived by her sons, Kent (Teresa) and Larry; brother, Jerry Overly; and grandchildren David (Carrie), Tony, Shawn (Sarah), Kate (LeAnn), AJ (Kelly); and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Ace, Orion, Maggie, Poppy Dee, Hudson, Sam, Sophie, Gianna, Kenly, and Billie.
