Donald Miller Obituary

Donald Eugene Miller, age 85, of Atlanta, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Donnie was born in Tipton, Indiana on March 18, 1937, to his parents, Perry & Sarah (Dickey) Miller.

Donnie was a graduate of Tipton High School, class of 1955.  After high school, he went on to Indiana University where he was an active participant in the ROTC program.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in science and education in 1963.  Donnie worked for a short time in the classroom before realizing his heart was just not in it.  He enlisted in the United States Army from 1963 – 1969.  He proudly served his country in Vietnam, earning a Vietnam Service medal with Bronze Service Star and a National Defense Service Medal. He worked his way up through the ranks, achieving the rank of Captain. Once he separated from the military, he joined the family farm where he raised crops and animals.  He spent his life dedicated to farming.

Donnie was a very private man but if he let you in, you should count yourself one of the lucky ones.  He was a kind man with a gentle spirit, and while you may not have known that from the outside looking in…if you knew, you knew.  He was an incredibly hard worker and took pride in everything he did.  Donnie had a big heart and he cared deeply for his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed.

Those left to carry on Donnie’s legacy of love is his brother, Jerry Miller; nieces and nephews, Andy (Tammie) Miller, Tony (Marilyn) Miller, Amy (Corey) Cain; great nieces and nephews; Sara (Ian) Smith, Danny (Jennifer) Matteucci, Brian (Annie) Miller, Wesley (Audra) Miller, Tori (Zach) Salters, Rylan Cain, and Carson Cain.

Donnie was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Perry & Sarah Miller.
