Elbert Junior “Moe” Moran, age 84, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2023. He was born on May 9, 1939 in Fairmont, West Virginia to his parents, Elbert William Moran and Edith (Radcliff) Kann. In 1964 Moe married Barbara (Wright) Moran, and she preceded him in death in 2007.
Moe graduated from Fairview High School in West Virginia in the class of 1957. After graduating, Moe enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and proudly served our country. Upon returning to civilian life, he began working for Chrysler Casting Plant in Skilled Trades as Machine Repair and was a member of UAW Local 1166. After more than 32 years of employment, Moe retired in 1998. Since 1973, Moe was a 32° Scottish Rite Mason from the Valley of Indianapolis as a Master Mason in Howard Lodge No. 93.
Moe had a quiet demeanor and was a man of few words. However, when he did speak, his sense of humor and wisdom came through. Moe enjoyed grilling steaks, fishing, and golfing; this was especially true after his retirement. He was detail oriented and a true handyman. He was a talented knife maker and tinkerer. His craftsmanship was impeccable. He often worked overtime with his buddies at Chrysler and his work ethic was second to none. Moe will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him!
Those left to carry on Moe’s legacy of love are his companion, Jerri Black; children, Lora Moran, John (Janet) Moran; grandchildren, Elizabeth Felker, Isaac Felker, Henry Moran, Dorothy Moran Whitman Moran; siblings, Shirley Miller, Barbara Rowe, Kimberly Thompson, Tom Moran, Jan McFadden; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Moe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Elmer Kann and Melissa Miller.
A visitation for family and friends will take place on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home located at 314 N. Main St. In Tipton.
