Ellie Harger

Ellie...we’re not sure of her date of birth but we are so thankful that she was born! She was around 11 years old, and we are so thankful that we were able to rescue her from a terrible neglect situation. The day we met her she jumped right in the car like she had always been ours!  

Ellie loved her family well. Getting brushed and loved on was her favorite thing in the world. Chicken was her favorite treat. Ellie was gentle and loving, but she was also a fierce protector. She took pride in her job. She knew she was there to guard our land and protect our goats, pigs and chickens, and she did it well. She would stay up all night barking with a deep loud woof that kept predators at bay.  

Ellie meant so much to our farmstead. Her absence has definitely been felt. Things have been very somber. Fiona, our pig, has cried every day and lays in the spot where Ellie passed. Kobe, our other livestock guard dog, has been extremely sad and has needed extra love and attention to make him feel better. Even the goats have been moping around. This loss has been felt by all, and we are all so sad to have lost our great protector.  

Ellie will be remembered by her family favorites:  

Corey, Chrissy, Isabelle, Coryel, Fiona, Delilah and Kobe Harger.
