Obituary

Frances Elizabeth (Hathorne) Straley, age 81, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2023. She was born in Pineville, Louisiana on December 20, 1941. Francis married the love of her life, Stephen Straley, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2016.

Frances graduated from Pineville High School, in Louisiana in the class of 1959. She then went on to attend Northwestern University. Frances was a hard worker her whole life and always prioritized the needs of her family ahead of her own. You would be hard pressed to find a soul more loyal. Frances was spunky, and so very dedicated to her family, friends, and pets. Her appearance always matched her attitude! Frances was put together (makeup, jewelry, and every hair in place), and had timeless beauty. Her faith was important to her, and she was very encouraging to everyone who crossed her path. In her spare time, you may have found Frances crocheting, working crosswords, playing with her dogs, or cooking (with her Louisiana spice). Frances was lovingly referred to as, “Mommasita”, by her special niece. Many found Frances to be nurturing, genuine, and motherly. If she was part of your life, you knew you had been blessed!

Those left to carry on Frances’ legacy of love are her stepchildren, Sean Straley, Stephanie (Jon) Straley Vanvliet; grandsons, Todd (Chantel) Miller, James Moore III; multiple great grandchildren; niece, Nina (Bob) Phifer; sisters in law, Rachel Retherford & Dinda (Roy) Burkhart.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children, James Moore II, and Sheri Moore Robbins; as well as her beloved dogs, Daisy Mae & Kaisy Lynn.

Out of respect for Frances’ wishes, no formal funeral service will take place.
