Gary Buchman Obituary

Gary Richard Buchman, age 71, of Cicero, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana.  Gary was born in Racine, Wisconsin on September 7, 1952, to his parents, Donald Willam & Jean Caroline (Wieners) Buchman.  Gary married the love of his life, Sandra Gail Allen, on May 7, 1983.  They shared 40 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories together.

Gary was a graduate of Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  After high school he went to work selling and servicing air compressors for many years before he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he worked as a quality control manager at Green Bay Packaging.  Soon after retiring, he and Sandra moved back to Indiana to be close to their daughter and grandchildren.

Gary was known as a gentle giant; he was incredibly kind and just had a tender spirit about him.  He had a great laugh that he let loose often!  He adored his grandchildren and cherished the time they spent together.  He was a very involved father, always taking time to let his daughter know how much she meant to him.  During her high school years, he spent countless hours as a prop crew for the color guard program.  Gary spent many late nights and early mornings making sure everything was just right so the shows went smoothly and always without complaint!

He grew up in a household full of siblings; 12 in all, they were all very close.  One of their favorite pastimes was playing basketball together; of course there were enough of them to have two teams!  Even after the time came when he no longer played, he still enjoyed watching basketball.  Growing up, his family instilled a strong faith in him that he carried his whole life.

In Gary’s free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley with his love, Sandra, on the back.  He also enjoyed traveling.  His family has many memories of family vacations they have taken that they will hold near to their hearts.  Gary will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to know him.

Those left to carry on Gary’s legacy of love are his wife, Sandra Buchman; daughter, Andrea “Bug” Iloe Buchman Mamaril; grandchildren, Madyson Delaini Eshelman, Owen Lucas Eshelman, Gavin Reese Mamaril; siblings, Donna Grossmeyer (Tom), Lynn Hischke (Paul), Greg Buchman (Gail), Mary Brindowski (Dan), Gail Clough (Randy), Kevin Buchman (Janet), Keith Buchman (Shiloh), Paul Buchman, Brian Buchman (Kathy), Laura Buchman, Kristen Fisher; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gary was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Donald & Jean Buchman as well as several aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Red Ridge Community Building in Cicero, Indiana.
