Gerald Griffin Obituary

Gerald Dennis Griffin, age 84, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 22, 1939 to his parents, Frank Griffin and Miriam (Valentine) Griffin. Gerry married the love of his life, Patricia Faith (Brenton) Griffin on November 26, 1960. The two shared 63 years of marriage before Patty passed away on February 6, 2019.

Gerry graduated from Durbin High School in the class of 1957. For many years he worked for Riverview Health in Maintenace; and supervised the operation of the boiler system. Gerry was a hard worker, with a wide range of skills. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Gerry absolutely loved being a grandpa. He beamed with pride for each of his grandchildren. In recent years, Gerry planned special hunting and fishing trips with them; where so many wonderful memories were made.

Gerry was a people person. He was always very polite and made a point to express gratitude to his family, friends and caregivers. To put it simply, he was sweet! Gerry was a huge history buff; and loved storytelling and sharing his knowledge. He was fascinated with old airplanes and the engineering behind their design. He also enjoyed traveling and antiquing with his wife. The two made quite a pair; always finding something new to collect or refurbish. For down time, Gerry enjoyed settling in to watch a Nascar race. Gerry lived a simple life. He loved his family with his whole heart and was always completely genuine in his efforts. He will be greatly missed!

Those left to carry on Gerry’s legacy of love are his daughter, Karen King; sons, Todd Griffin, Scott Griffin (Toni Ohler); grandchildren, Haley Lawson, Jake King (Stefanie), Dusty Griffin (Tara Lee Whalen), Sasha Reynolds (Jason), and Vader Ohler (Cydney).

Gerry was welcomed into Heaven by his wife, Patricia Griffin; parents, Frank and Miriam Griffin; brother, Darrell Griffin; son-in-law, Larry King; and grandson, Chad Lawson.

Out of respect for Gerry’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Griffin family in their time of need. Please feel free to leave an online condolence or share a special memory of Gerry with his family on his tribute wall.
