Gerald Langley Obituary

Gerald A. Langley, age 77, of Tipton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 9:25 AM at IU North in Carmel, Indiana. Gerald was born on February 14, 1945 in Tipton, to his parents, Donald & Nettie (McCubbins) Langley.

Gerald married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann (Molden) Langley on February 5, 1963, and the two were blessed to recently celebrate their 60th anniversary. Gerald & Pat had an amazing relationship! Their love, commitment to one another, and the partnership they built through the years has been an example to many of what marriage is supposed to be.

Gerald graduated from Tipton High School, and then went on to proudly serve in the United States Army. He worked for Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of UAW #685. Gerald was also a member of the NRA. In his spare time you may have found Gerald deer hunting, or polishing his 1954 Ford tractor. In his younger years, Gerald enjoyed coaching his sons in football. He liked coaching so much he continued even after his kids no longer played in the league. Without a doubt, Gerald was great with kids and was greatly respected by all the young people he coached. Gerald’s kind heart was also reflected in his love for animals. If there were ever a stray all they needed to do was find Gerald.

Gerald believed in leaving others better than how he found them. He applied this principle to every area of his life, but especially to his family. He worked hard, and took great pride in being a man others could rely on. He had the ability to connect with people quickly, find common ground, and usually offer helpful insights. He was extremely intelligent, and could talk to anyone about just about anything. Gerald will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He adored his wife, children, and grandchildren, and was extremely thankful for the life he was blessed with.

Those left to carry on Gerald’s legacy of love are his soul mate, Patricia Langley; daughter, Lisa (Kenny) Goodrich; son, Gary (Shelly) Langley; grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Jasinski; Zach (Angelica) Writtenhouse, Haley Writtenhouse, Zane Goodrich, Sean Langley, Samantha (Levi) Gaunska, Blake (Brittany) Langley, Tanner Langley; great grandchildren, Tristan & Jocelyn Jasinski, Forrest & Wesson Writtenhouse, Ella & Nate Crawford, Jaxon, Lillie-Ann & Zoe Daniels, Braylon, Landrie, Sawyer & Nash Langley and Taysom Gaunska; sister, Brenda Dane; sisters in law, Joette Gibbs, Rita Leininger, Linda Molden, Florence Langley; and beloved dogs, Scotty and LuLu (who were always by his side).

Gerald was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Donald & Nettie Langley; son, Michael Langley; grandson, Jake Langley; brothers, Ronald Langley, Alan Langley; and sister, Bev Hollis.

To honor Gerald’s wishes, private family services will be held. Gerald will be laid to rest in Tipton's Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Robb Roloff officiating.
