Harold Maxwell Obituary

Harold O. "Bud" Maxwell, age 84, of Tipton, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at IU Tipton Hospital.  Bud was born on January 26, 1937 in Jay County, Indiana to his parents, Ennis & Edith (Jones) Maxwell.  Bud married Adah Lyons on December 31 1964 in Kokomo, Indiana at the First Church of Christ.  They spent 46 years together before she passed away in October of 2010.

Bud attended Red Key High School.  After school, he joined the United States Army, proudly serving in Germany.  Bud worked for Mohr Construction, Local 103 as a heavy equipment operator, retiring after 20 years.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 46, Shriner's Club, Moose Lodge, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization.

Bud was a very social fellow, he enjoyed talking to just about anyone that would listen!  He was the type person that never met a stranger; if you didn't know him, you just didn't know him yet.  Being social came naturally to him as he was easy going and extremely likable; a true friend to all!  He loved all people but his love for children was extraordinary.  He couldn't pass up the chance to make a child smile.

Bud was an avid gardener, growing all sorts of vegetables and a huge patch of sweet corn every year.  In his younger years, Bud was quite an athlete.  He joined the rodeo circuit where he did bull riding, bareback bronc riding, and bulldogging or better known today as steer wrestling.  After he left the rodeo, he went on to train Quarter Horses for racing.  In his later years he enjoyed hunting deer, racoons, and fishing.  He also spent a good portion of his time at the American Legion enjoying the company of his friends.

Those left to carry on Bud's legacy of love are his children, Karla (Charlie) Beatson, Tim Lyons (Connie Maus), Tam Fearnow; Sisters, Clara Young and Donna (Jim) Olvey; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and his sweet lady friend, Linda Shepherd.

Bud was welcomed into Heaven by his Parents, Ennis & Edith Maxwell, Wife, Adah Maxwell; Daughter, Kibby Maxwell; Brother, Butch Maxwell; Sisters, Tilley Clevenger and Sue Maxwell; Son-In-Law, Butch Fearnow; Grandchildren, John Henderson and Joseph Henderson; Niece Debbie Olvey.

A funeral service celebrating Bud's life will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 1:00PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home located at 314 N Main St., Tipton, IN with Joe Brock officiating.  Visitation will be held just prior to service from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Normanda Cemetery following the service.
