Jack C. Bess

Jack Bess, age 92, of Tipton, went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor.  Jack was born in Kokomo, Indiana on December 27, 1928, to his parents, Gilbert & Hazel (Wright) Bess.  On February 5, 1977, Jack married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Cox.  They shared 39 years of marriage together and a lifetime of love. She precedes him, passing away on November 3, 2016.

Jack was a Jackson Central High School graduate, class of 1947.  Jack retired from FMC in Tipton.  After retirement, he made sure to keep busy.  He drove the bus for the senior center and worked as a nighttime janitor for Pizza Hut. 

Jack enjoyed being outside; he could always be found working on something outside.  In his later years, Jack rode his bicycle all over town until he was 89 years old!  He loved to ride around to see what treasures he could find.

Jack’s faith was very important to him.  Gwen and Jack met at church and faithfully attended together every Sunday.  Jack was a simple man with a quiet demeanor, yet he was incredibly ornery and loved to joke around.  He was a very loving dad, grandpa, and husband.  He set an amazing example of love; a legacy that his family will take with them everywhere they go.

Those left to carry on Jack’s legacy of love are his children, Triena (Ron) Wise, Brenda Bess, Jack (Sherri) Bess Jr., Regina Bess, Michael (Heather) Bess; grandchildren, Andy (Sarah) Tellison, April (Jonathon) Wallace, Amanda (Jeremy) Lambert, Amanda (Josh) Johnson, Crystal (Jeff) McCollister, Josh Frasure, Zach (Ashley) Frasure, and Dakota Bess.   

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Gilbert & Hazel Bess; his wife, Gwen Bess;  his daughter, Carma Bess.

A graveside service will be planned for a later date.
