Jack Cunningham

Jack Cunningham, age 88, of Tipton, Indiana went to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday, November 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born on January 16, 1934, to his parents, William & Zona (Tollison) Cunningham in Sparta, Tennessee.  Jack married the love of his life, Evelyn Moss, on August 23, 1958.  They shared 64 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories. 

Jack grew up in Sparta, Tennessee where he attended school.  He was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served for two years.  After serving in the military, he started working as an auto body repairman at Weise’s in Kokomo and then he worked at Steel Parts where he retired in 1998.

Jack loved to be outdoors.  One of his true passions was fishing; he would go fishing any time he was able to.  He enjoyed gardening and grew the best tomatoes!  When Jack wasn’t busy with fishing or gardening, he could be found tinkering away in the garage.  Jack was very meticulous in the way he took care of his cars; he always kept them incredibly clean and took great care of them.  He loved to pass on his wealth of knowledge to the younger generations.  The lessons he passed on will be taught for years to come. 

Jack was truly one of a kind.  He was an all-around great guy; very loyal and helpful to those he loved. He was a jokester, always fun to be around. Jack had many different titles, but his favorite was Papaw. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to carry on Jack’s legacy of love are his wife, Evelyn Cunningham; son, Steve (Kim) Cunningham; grandchildren, Taylor (Brady) Kendall, Trevor Cunningham; sisters, Pat Rood, June Johnson, Jean Reynolds; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Jack was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, William & Zona Cunningham; and sisters Pearl Crowell and Gladys Armagost.    

A funeral service celebrating Jack’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton with Dr. William Salsbery officiating. Visitation for family & friends will take place prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery immediately following the service and will include full military honors performed by the United States Army, as well as the dedicated men of American Legion, Post 46.
