James “Jim” Lee Mendenhall, age 65, of Sheridan, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at his home. Jim was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 14, 1956, to his parents, James & Alma (Yardley) Mendenhall.
Jim graduated from Tipton High School, in the Class of 1974. Through the years, Jim worked as an irrigation specialist for Grandview in Cicero. If Jim wasn’t busy working, you could most likely find him with his family. He cherished every moment he had with his kids and grandkids. They were priority…and he never missed an activity they were involved in! To Jim, there was nothing better than a great meal with family, followed by a good nap! Jim had a big personality. He loved people, and quickly made connections. He thoroughly enjoyed watching other people enjoy life and have good experiences. Jim was definitely a life-long learner. He never stopped reading, absorbing information and teaching others. He was a big time history buff, and could debate politics with anybody!
Jim’s family appreciated the man he was, as well as the impact he made on each of their lives. His children will cherish every Smoky Mountain vacation memory their dad gifted them with! They also appreciate the video camera mantel that has been passed down to them. More than anything, Jim taught his family the importance of unity and unconditional love. He will be so greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him!
Those left to carry on Jim’s legacy of love are his parents, James & Alma Mendenhall; his children, Damien (Amanda) Mendenhall, Brooke Mendenhall, Jessica Mendenhall, Kyle (Liz) Mendenhall; grandkids, Quenton (Rachel) Mendenhall, Haley Mendenhall, Garret Mendenhall, Grayson Mendenhall, Lyla Mendenhall; great grandkids, Lincoln Idlewine, Lukas Idlewine, Fletcher Mendenhall; siblings, Mike (Cindy) Mendenhall, Ron ( Angie) Mendenhall, Tim (Kathy) Mendenhall, Joann Borden; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was welcomed into Heaven by his grandparents.
