Josie Thomasina Padgett crossed the rainbow bridge on June 7, 2020 at 15 years old with her sister by her side and her mother on the phone. She passed peacefully, knowing she was loved by those around her.
In life, Josie was incredibly kind. She loved people and never met a stranger. Whenever someone would come visit the house she would always want them to leave as her new friend.
Josie was born on February 14, 2005 and came into her family’s life at just the right time. Josie’s father and sister came across her at an adoption event at Petco. She was a tiny black kitten and her hair was an absolute mess, but her sister adored her. After being informed that Josie was to be put to sleep the next day if she wasn’t adopted, they had no choice but to bring her home.
Despite being such a mess, the whole family fell in love with her. Nearly every day when her grandma would come over, she’d ask her how her bad hair day was coming along. Josie ended up growing into her messy mane and became quite proud of her looks, particularly her tail which she would hold up high for all to see.
Josie’s looks even ended up winning her awards. She won Best Long-Haired Cat and Best in Show at the Howard County 4-H fair and accepted her trophies on stage with her sister.
Josie’s favorite actives included napping, playing with people’s hair, playing with her squeaky mouse, and listening to music.
Josie is survived by her mother, Diana Padgett, her father, Michael Padgett, her brother and sister, Tyler and Taylor Padgett, her furry brother and sister, Thomas and Mia, and her best furry friend and brother, bunny Bliss.

But the memory of our happy times is mine to always keep."
