Joyce Ann Leininger (Moody), age 82, of Atlanta, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, in Tipton at Miller’s Merry Manor surrounded by her family. Joyce was born in Green County, Indiana on March 4, 1939, to her parents, Clyde & Zada (Maxwell) Moody. On November 27, 1959, Joyce married the love of her life, William Leininger. They shared 62 years of marriage and raised three wonderful children.
Joyce was a graduate of Tipton High School, class of 1957. After high school, Joyce learned phlebotomy and worked in a lab for several years before having children and staying home to raise them. Over the years, she worked at Ben Franklin and Noblesville Walmart in the fabric department. She ended her career right where she started in phlebotomy at Riverview Hospital in the Outpatient Center.
Joyce was a very proud farm wife! She loved raising animals, especially chickens and farm cats. She enjoyed sewing in her free time. She loved to cook and no matter how far you searched, you wouldn’t find someone better at making a fantastic meal than Joyce! She attended First Baptist Church in Tipton for many years. Joyce shared her strong faith with William; they ran the junior church together for 25 years.
Joyce was a very strong presence in her family’s life. She had a stern approach, but her family knew it all came from love. Joyce was a very devoted mother always wanting the best for her children. Afterall, a mother’s love is a reflection of God’s love.
Those left to carry on Joyce’s legacy of love are her husband, William Leininger; her son, Brent (Leslie) Leininger; daughter-in-law, Karen Leininger; grandchildren, Justus (Beth) Leininger, Chloey (Lukas) Overdorf, Quincie Leininger, Cole Leininger, Kray Leininger; great grandchildren, Will Leininger, Clara Leininger, Ella Overdorf; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Clyde & Zada Moody; sons, Craig and Scott Leininger; sister, Atna Moody; and brother, Winferd “Bud” Moody.
A funeral service celebrating Joyce’s life will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, located at 400 Oak Street in Tipton, Indiana with Pastor Randy Carlisle officiating. Burial will take place in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Friday, January 28, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
