Judith Elaine Phillips, age 81, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She was born on March 25, 1941 to her parents, Walter & Ruby (Smith) Hughes. Judy married Erskine Phillips in 1979 and he preceded her in death in August of 1987.
Judy grew up in the Sharpsville area and was a 1959 graduate of Prairie High School. She spent much of her life being a homemaker. Judy was extremely committed to her family. She was outgoing, loved life and enjoyed traveling. She was also creative, and a very gifted singer. Anyone’s life Judy was a part of; they were better for it! She was a hard worker and never hesitated to invest in people and help whenever she could. The world was a better place with Judy in it, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her!
Judy is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. A special “thank you” is extended to Susan Klapper and Adam Klapper; Judy’s cousins who lovingly took on the role as health care advocates on her behalf.
Judy was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Walter & Ruby Hughes; husband, Erskine Phillips; son, Donnie Nolley; sisters, Virginia Hinkle, Louise Rawson; and brother, Max Hughes.
A graveside service celebrating Judy’s life will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Joe Brock officiating. Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Phillips family in their time of need. Please feel free to leave an online condolence or share a special memory of Judy with her family on her tribute wall.
