Kenny Mays Obituary

Kenny Joe Mays, 68, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Howard Community Regional Health. He was born on July 10, 1956, in Tipton, Indiana to his parents, Billy & Betty (Lange) Mays.

Kenny attended Tipton High School. He was very community minded and enjoyed helping those in Tipton.  He could often be seen riding his bicycle around town, mowing yards and delivering newspapers.  Kenny was very friendly and always had a smile for friends and strangers alike.  His compassion for others was a staple of his personality, he truly enjoyed having a servant heart.

He was very well known around town and had his favorite hangouts like Burger King and Jim Dandy.  He loved donuts and you could be sure, when a friend brought donuts around, Kenny was going to get a few for the road!  Fried catfish was another one of his favorites, eating it as fast as his friend and neighbor could cook it!  He enjoyed playing cards with friends; he just loved the fellowship of hanging out with those he was close to.  He had a special fur friend, Nutmeg, who belonged to his friend.  She was not very fond of humans, but she loved Kenny!   Nutmeg and Kenny had a special bond and were always excited to see each other.

In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his sister, Tersea Mays.  They would work on crosswords and play Bingo every day.  They were not only siblings, but best friends and he will be deeply missed.

Those left to carry on Kenny’s legacy of love is his sister, Tersea Mays along with several cousins, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Kenny was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Billy & Betty Mays.

A graveside service celebrating Kenny’s life will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Noon at Fairview Cemetery, located at 418 Fairview Drive in Tipton.
