Kevin Matthew Cowan, 58, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born on November 4, 1965 to his parents, Walter Cowan and Virgie (Bowen) Cowan. Kevin married Shamra (Gifford) Cowan on May 27, 2006.
Kevin graduated from Taylor High School in the class of 1984. Kevin worked for Super Test for many years. He was the friendly face known by most of Kokomo, and responsible for brightening many people's day. Kevin still had ongoing friendships from his days at Super Test. He also worked for Wesco, Kirby Risk, Paul Bogard Trucking, and Daimler Chrysler.
In Kevin’s down time you may have found him scrolling Facebook, playing coin master and monopoly or watching Nascar. His absolute favorite thing in the world was spending time with his loved ones. When he was growing up, he loved being part of a big family. He admired all of his siblings and maintained a close relationship with them through adulthood. Being a father and grandfather brought tremendous joy to Kevin’s life. He was always very family oriented and appreciated quality time and organized many get togethers. Thanksgiving was one of his favorite times, yet he prided himself on being thankful every day. Whether he felt good or not, he always had a smile to share and took time to make everyone who crossed his path feel cared for....definitely his gift to the world! Kevin will be missed very deeply, and forever admired for his upbeat spirit, boisterous laugh, and truly caring heart.
Those left to carry on Kevin’s legacy of love are his wife, Shamra Cowan; children, Kevin Matthew Cowan II, Faith Anne Cowan; grandchildren, Elijah Cowan, Ember Cowan, Luca Bowman; siblings, Wanda (Rex) Johnson, Steve (Bev) Cowan, Sharon (Tom) Huffman, Sondra Kemper; brother-in-law, Earl Welch (who was like a second father); many nieces, nephews, cousins; and a number of amazing men who were like brothers, Troy Welch, Greg Peterson, Tim Nichols, Michael Hamm, Tim Cook, and Bob Scircle. .
Kevin is now rejoicing in Heaven with the ones who passed before him; his parents, Walt & Virgie Cowan; sister, Phyllis Welch; nephew, Scott Welch; and best friend, Mike Taboas.
A funeral service celebrating Kevin’s life will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton with Pastor Joe Gifford officiating. A visitation for family and friends will take place prior to the service from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
