Lisa Kay (Wolverton) Achenbach, age 62, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 22, 1961 to her parents, John Wesley Wolverton and Betty Irene (Herron) Wolverton. Lisa married the love of her life, Thomas Joe Achenbach on June 12, 1982, and the two have shared 41 years together.
Lisa graduated from Tipton High School in the class of 1980. She spent most of her adult life working in healthcare. Lisa found her niche with the elderly; and was thankful to work for New Horizon Nursing Home in Arcadia. She met the dietary needs of her patients, while forming many deep and lasting bonds along the way.
Lisa suffered with MS for years; yet was never defined by her illness. She was incredibly strong, never complained, and was always upbeat and positive. In fact, she kept her family on pace and was quite the “go getter” when it came to getting things done. Of course, her absolute favorite thing in the world was spending time with her 3 sweet granddaughters. “Gram” always found spoiling them very easy! Besides spending time with her family, Lisa very much enjoyed tending to her yard and flowers, singing, and Tipton County 4-H. She was a simple woman; and was respected by many for the way she lived her life. She took it day by day, remained thankful, and was encouraging to all who crossed her path. Lisa will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to carry on Lisa’s legacy of love are her husband, Tom Achenbach; daughter, Jenna (Zach) Burger; granddaughters, Harper, Memphis & Josie Burger; sisters, Carol Wolverton, Mary Garmon; brother-in-law, Bill (Maggie) Achenbach; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Johnny) Riddle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lisa was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, John & Betty Wolverton; brother, Kenny Wolverton; and brother-in-law, Sonny Garmon.
A funeral service celebrating Lisa’s life will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. In Tipton with Pastor Jody Brown officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Committal will take place immediately following the service at Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery.
Please feel free to leave an online condolence or share a special memory of Lisa with her family on her tribute wall.
Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Achenbach family in their time of need. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tipton County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home during visitation time.
The Achenbach family would like to extend tremendous thanks to the following organizations: Visiting Angels (Presta Graber); Home Health Care Aide, Kathy Prien; Guardian Angel Hospice; and the nursing staff of Tipton Hospital.
