Mary Duncan Obituary

Mary Ann Duncan, 77, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Mary was born on May 16, 1949, in Elwood, Indiana to her parents, Charles Ross and Ludwicka (Riese) Ross.

She graduated from Tipton High School in the class of 1967. Soon after she began working for Delco Electronics, where she dedicated 30 years of service before retiring.

Mary married Greg Duncan on October 11, 1969. Together they built a life centered on faith, family and love. They enjoyed 32 years together before Greg passed away in August of 2002. In the years that followed, Mary was blessed to find companionship with Phil Davenport, whom she met through church. Phil became a sweet and positive presence in Mary’s life. The two cherished their time together and were very thankful for the love they found with one another.

Mary was a devoted member of Tetersburg Christian Church. She enjoyed being part of the church’s Willing Workers group. During her years there, Mary was able to help many people. She also blessed others through her gift of song. Mary had a beautiful voice, and it was always a treat to hear her sing. Mary’s faith was evident in her words and actions, and she set a wonderful example for her family.

Mary found her greatest joy in spending time with her dear family. Mary treasured every moment with her children and grandchildren. Her home was often the place for family gatherings, she loved cooking and having everyone together; sharing stories from the past, while making new memories at the same time. Mary also enjoyed tending to her flowers and garden. During her down time, she loved curling up on the couch, watching Hallmark movies. Those who knew Mary will remember her as a loving, kind-hearted woman, whose warmth made others feel at home. Her gentle nature, unwavering faith, and deep love for family left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Those left to carry on Mary’s legacy of love are her children, Jason (Alicia) Duncan, Jenny Duncan; grandchildren, Caleb (Amanda) Duncan, Nathaniel (Payton) Duncan, Asher Duncan, Sophia Duncan; great granddaughter, Elaine Duncan; and an expected great granddaughter who will be welcomed in August. Mary is also survived by her siblings, Melvin Ross, Norma Jones, Shirley (Kenny) Roe; several nieces, nephews, cousins; as well as Mary’s very precious and loving companion, Phil Davenport.

Mary was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Charles and Ludwicka Ross; husband, Greg Duncan; infant daughter, Paula Jo Duncan; sister-in-law, Pat Ross; and brother-in-law, Clint Jones.
