Roberta "Bobbi" (Thompson) Powell

Roberta “Bobbi” Lea (Thompson) Powell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022 with her loving husband by her side. Bobbi was born on May 25, 1958 to her parents, Robert Thompson & Corinne (Hoeltke) Thompson. Bobbi married the love of her life, Duane “Butch” Lee Powell on November 29, 1980 and the two shared 42 years together.

Bobbi graduated from Columbus East High School in the class of 1976. Through the years Bobbi held several part time jobs. Her most enjoyable was definitely working for Indy Motor Speedway as a yellow shirt. In her spare time you may have found Bobbi reading, tending to her pet birds, bowling, or traveling with her husband. She loved the world of racing, and was a big fan of Nascar’s Tony Stewart as well as Indy Car’s Simon Pagenaud.

Bobbi was very committed to her family, and took great pride in being a good friend to others. She never met a stranger, and will forever be remembered for her loyal heart. Bobbi will be so greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her!

Those left to carry on Bobbi’s legacy of love are her husband, Butch Powell; stepson, Paul Powell; grandchildren, Samantha Powell, Dakota Powell; great grandchildren, Sophia Grace Knudtson, Charlie May Knudtson; stepmom, Mary Sue Thompson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bobbi was welcomed into Heaven by her parents.

A funeral service celebrating Bobbi’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton, IN with Pastor Harvey McDaniel officiating. A visitation for family & friends will take place prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial will be held immediately following the service at Kempton Cemetery.
