OUR BELOVED AUSTRALIAN SHEPARD, ROOSTER
A beautiful tribute written by: Donna Whitted
Rooster came into our lives the summer of 2020. He was sick and giving up. When I walked through the door of the rescue shelter our eyes met, and it was as if he was reaching out to me with a last plea asking for a loving, forever family to save him. I wanted to grab him up in that moment, hold him tight and let him know he already had our hearts and we were there to take him home.
As time went by with so many ups and downs with Rooster's health, we are sure he knew just how loved he was and that he had indeed found his forever family. It's safe to say Rooster absolutely thrived in our home; he loved playing with the other dogs and always enjoyed tormenting the cats. He loved having his chin and belly rubbed and made the most hilarious noises during the process. Rooster was seriously the most amazing dog anyone could ever ask for.
Rooster became the delight of the neighborhood on our daily walks. People wanted to pet and hug him; he got lots of kisses from children as well as the ladies! There wasn’t one dog in the neighborhood that didn’t make friends with Rooster. He was such a gentle soul! We got the best of Rooster’s love and we tried our best to fill him up with as much love and care as we could give. Part of that care involved feeding him his favorite treat: buttered toast.
Rooster’s time with us was too short, largely because of the neglect and abuse from his past. However, we are thankful for every moment we shared with Rooster. He filled our hearts with so much joy. We are truly blessed having had this boy as our own. Rooster, we will never forget you!
All our love,
Mommy & Daddy
