Ruby Tobias Obituary

Ruby Tobias, age 12, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday February 6, 2022, with her loving family by her side.  She was born around May of 2009 and hit the jackpot when she was adopted by the Tobias/Spears family from the Kokomo Humane Society on September 16, 2009. Ruby was adopted on a whim and a picture. During the adoption process, she managed to chew through one leash and half of the second leash. Skylar knew then and there that she would be hard to hold down but loved her spirit!

Ruby would come to many nicknames; The Dubler, Ru-Ru, Pretty Girl, not that she would ever be far enough away to have to call her to you.  She had no sense of personal space, a true “lap dog” even though she was nowhere near the size of a lap dog.  She really just wanted you to know she was with you, not that she could have been forgotten. She loved to go for rides whether that was in a car or on the mule around the country roads; she was always ready to go!  Her favorite place to go for a ride was anywhere that she could get ice cream!  It was one of her favorite treats although she wasn’t picky.  She enjoyed just about any treat but ice cream, cheese, chicken nuggets and crackers were at the top of the list.

In true Labrador fashion, she was always happy and full of energy! She had a huge heart and was always so grateful to be included in any activity.  If for some reason she felt as if she was being left out, she made sure to include herself in the activities. She was a lab, through and through.  The one way that Ruby differed from practically every other lab known to man, she hated water!  It didn’t matter if it was a bath, the hose, or a puddle of water on the ground, she would avoid it at all costs, even walking around puddles instead of barreling right through them like most other labs.

Her Momma, Skylar, said Ruby was her constant. She was there for it all. Break-ups, death in the family, moving out on her own, raising a puppy by, getting married, and lastly, having a baby. It was Skylar and Ruby against the world. She truly was a Girl’s Best Friend.  Ruby did not know a stranger.  She touched so many lives, her sweet spirit will be missed by so many.
