Russell Dale Pratt

Russell Dale Pratt, 75, of Tipton, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2023 at home with his family. He was born on February 4, 1947 in Elwood, IN to his parents, Ralph Dale Pratt and Margaret Irene (Bohlander) Pratt. Russell married the love of his life, Sarah Nell (Eikenberry) Pratt on December 7, 1968, just weeks before he left for Vietnam.

Russell graduated from Alexandria Monroe High School in the class of 1966, and then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. When Russell returned to civilian life he began working for Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo, retiring after 31 years of employment.  

Russell was so very loved by his family! He was extremely committed in every way. He was a great provider and never minded making sacrifices for those he loved. Russell adored his wife; and held such pride for his children and grandchildren. He was a true patriot! His faith was strong, and he was an example to many. For Russell, it was important to be active in church. He believed in contributing as much as he could. Russell was a perfectionist to say the least! He was also disciplined, and confidently stubborn in believing his way was the right way. He was a bit accident prone, and also a bit of a procrastinator. Perhaps most importantly, he was effortlessly humorous and never lacked in humility. He was a man others looked up to! Without a doubt, Russell was one of a kind and will be missed beyond measure!

Those left to carry on Russell’s legacy of love are his wife, Sarah Pratt; children, Jason (Amber) Pratt, Amie (Paul) Parker; grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, and Grace Pratt; siblings, Judi (Larry) Spooner, Phil (Linda) Pratt, Mark (Kimberly) Pratt, June Hannah; sisters in law, Jenny Myrick, Lynda Pratt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Russell was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Ralph & Margaret Pratt; and siblings, Jeneanne Pratt, David Pratt and Dennis Pratt.  

A memorial service celebrating Russell’s life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Emanuel Lutheran Church, located at 1385 S. Main St. In Tipton, with Rev. Dr. Robb Roloff officiating. A visitation for family and friends will take place prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church.
