Shirley Crawford Obituary

Shirley Jean (Coachman) Crawford, age 74, of Tipton, graduated to Heaven on Sunday, September 5, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brady, Pennsylvania on December 7, 1946 to her parents, John Coachman and Betty Jean (Purvis) Coachman.

Shirley grew up in Tipton and graduated from Tipton High School in the Class of 1964. She married the love of her life, James Earl Crawford on December 20, 1963 and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2015.

Shirley worked for Delco Electronics in Kokomo, IN for over 30 years. Shirley wore many hats over the years, but her favorite by far was being a Mother and Grandmother. Even though she worked full time, she was what many would consider a professional homemaker! She loved to bake, cook, garden, paint, sew, and cross stitch. Shirley had a love of the outdoors and took time to teach her kids and grandkids about things like, flowers, birds, and wildlife. Shirley was unique in many ways! You never had to wonder where you stood with her. She was 100% real all the time, and never held anything back! This quality is what Shirley’s family appreciated the most about her. She was funny! It was rare to see her without a smile on her face. Shirley made this world a better place and impacted all the lives around her for the better! She will be missed beyond measure!

Those left to carry on Shirley’s legacy of love are her Step Mother, Margaret Coachman; Children, Jimmy (Sherri) Crawford, Michael (Laurie) Crawford, Jennifer Beeman; Grandchildren, Jovi Crawford, Michael “Lil Mike” Crawford, Lela Crawford, Hailee Crawford, Cassidy Crawford, Emma Crawford, Tyler Black, Levi Sowders, Krysta Beeman, Dallas Sanmiguel, Heaven Sanmiguel; 1 Great Grandchild, and another on the way. Shirley is also survived by her Siblings, Pat (Dave) Sharp, Jonnie Sue “Susie” Rogers, Rhonda LaFary; Lifelong Friend, Liz Cox; Beloved Cats, Trouble and Mouse; as well as several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Shirley was welcomed into Heaven by her Parents and Husband.

A funeral service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 1:00pm at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N Main St. in Tipton with Pastor Logan Westrick officiating.
