Sputnik Wilson, age 15, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 with her family by her side.
Sputnik was a rescue. She was found behind the high school by the girls volleyball team in the summer of 2008. She was frightened, no collar or tags, with a nylon rope around her neck. Detained by animal control & after the period for claiming lapsed, she was rescued by Audrey & welcomed into the family.
Sputnik was a silly dog. Small but mighty. She was sure she could whip any 4 wheel drive tractor that drove by. Snowplows were an enemy. Her nemesis for life was the squirrel that lived in our yard. Many days and hours have been spent chasing that squirrel.
She never missed a meal and usually managed to eat others’ meals as well.
Sputnik’s heart gave out and took a piece of ours with her. Survived by Emily, Andrew & Erick Wilson and Audrey Sanders. Uncle Dave was her honorary owner - refusing to let him ignore her when he stopped to visit. Ross is her sole surviving fur sibling.
