Telina Helvey Obituary

Telina Marie (Henady) Helvey, age 48, of Windfall, passed away on April 9, 2025, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Watseka, Illinois on February 2, 1977, to her parents, Jeffrey Henady and Deborah (Ropp) Korba. Telina married her soulmate, Brandan Helvey, on May 16, 1998, in Lafayette.  They shared 26 years of marriage, two amazing sons, and a lifetime of memories.

Telina graduated from South Newton Jr. Sr. High School, class of 1995. After high school, she attended Indiana Wesleyan earning a BA in Business Administration and an MBA in Accounting.  Through the years she worked for Allied Solutions and Ascension Health. In 2021, Telina and Brandan purchased the Windmill Tavern in Windfall.  She took great pride in her business, making it a welcoming environment for all that passed through the door!

Telina loved flowers and plants.  She always had the most beautiful landscaping and enjoyed all the time and effort it took to make everything look just right.  She loved all animals; they held a soft spot in her heart.  She could often be found birdwatching or taking her dog, Shadow, for a drive.  No matter what she was doing, she was always on the lookout for a way to help an animal in need.

Telina had the most caring heart, she showed everyone around her empathy.  She was completely selfless, always putting others' needs before her own and she did so without a second thought.  Telina showed her children how to be selfless through acts of kindness to others.  She was the type of woman to give of herself, even if it was her last dollar.  If she saw a homeless person, especially someone that had a dog with them, she didn’t show judgement; instead, she would purchase them food and take it to them making sure they had enough to last for a while.

If you knew Telina at all, you know she always wore a smile!  She was the life of the party and would light up a room with her positive vibes.  She was a prankster and loved to jump scare others.  Telina was strong-willed and determined; she never shied away from hard work.  If she had a theme song it was “Break my Stride”, because no one was going to break her stride or slow her down!  Life was in the details for Telina.  She was very detail oriented, always giving special attention to the small things.

Telina may be best known for her philanthropist spirit.  Her giving heart made it easy to think of others.  She was a huge supporter of her community.  She gave freely to many local organizations as well as families in need.  She often created events to raise money to help the Humane Society of Tipton County, local food drives, families with sick children, and many more countless causes.

Telina was an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She earned a new title just a short time ago that she was incredibly proud of…grandma.  Their time together was short, but you can bet, Telina left her mark on her sweet granddaughter.  She was such a blessing to all that knew her, she will be greatly missed.

Those left to carry on Telina’s legacy of love are her husband, Brandan Helvey; sons Gavin Helvey, Dylan (Shiane) Helvey; granddaughter, Taelynn Helvey; parents, Jeff (Karen) Henady, Debbie Korba; siblings, Holly (Patrick) Donahoe, Brent Henady, Danielle (Tim) Gaddis, Maria (Scott) Nelson, Jacob (Jessie) Eckman, Joseph (Marcia) Eckman, grandparents, Phyllis & Ray Henady; several nieces and nephews; and her dearly loved dog, Shadow.

Telina was welcomed into Heaven by her stepdad, Jerome Korba and her aunt, Brenda Woodruff.
