Tobias "Toby" McDuff Tolle

On Monday, June 17, 2024, Tobias McDuff Tolle passed away after a long fight with various ailments. He tried very hard to deal with his arthritis and liver problems because it was in his blood to never disappoint his owners, Mike and Sally Tolle. 

Toby was loved by any and everyone who came in contact with him. Growling was simply not part of his makeup. He much preferred to be cuddled, tickled, and hugged, as opposed to rough play. He was born into a litter of 6 puppies – 3 boys and 3 girls. We had chosen his mother Sydney because our second granddaughter born shortly before was named Sydney. Toby was actually the last puppy to be picked and we have been so thankful that we had the good fortune the past 13 years to be his people parents.  

Unlike many dog owners whose dogs had to be taught not to run across the road or chase bikers who might come along, he just knew not to do those things because he knew it would disappoint us. We can recall only one time as a puppy that he had an accident in the house. He just somehow knew that he would disappoint his people if he pottied in the house.  

Even though Toby lived in a house and in a family who loved athletics, he was never the athletic type. We never had to worry about him jumping on furniture or beds. He just wasn’t interested and even more likely did not want to disappoint us. He did however want to be as close to us as possible. He followed his people parents wherever they might go – especially Sally. He curled up in the bathroom during shower time, he laid beneath her computer desk while she was working, he found his way to the bedroom to sleep beside the bed. In his healthier days, he would follow Mike outside to play ball, check out the garden, or sit at the feet of both Mike and Sally while they sat in the swing in the backyard.  

We pray that in doggie Heaven Toby will find his cousin Charlie who passed away only a few short months ago. Rest in peace Toby and know that you will forever be loved and never forgotten.
