Tony Louis Gruel, 75, of Tipton, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Tony was born on January 5, 1947, to his parents, John & Grace Gruel in Tazwell, Tennessee. Tony married the love of his life, Diana Johnson Riley on October 19, 1996, sharing over 26 years together.
Tony was a graduate of Hamilton Heights High School. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Army. Once he was out of the military, he began working in construction. He worked for Vibromatic making machines for automotive factories. He retired from Chrysler in 2008. Tony was a member of the American Legion post 46 and the Moose Lodge in Tipton.
If you knew Tony at all, you know he was a hard worker. When he had free time, he enjoyed watching the Colts. He was a bit cynical and blunt with his thoughts, but you always knew where you stood with him!
Those left to carry on Tony’s legacy of love are his wife, Diana Gruel; son, Scott (Monica) Gruel, Dawn Davison, William Riley; grandchildren, Stephanie, Jessica, Trinity, Olivia, Elizabeth, Garrett, Broc, Abbi; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Kinsley; sister, Joyce; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tony was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, John & Grace Gruel; brothers, Tom Gruel, Earl Gruel, Johnny Gruel.
A funeral service celebrating Tony’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton. Visitation for family & friends will take place prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery immediately following the service and will include full military honors performed by the United Sates Army, as well as the dedicated men of American Legion, Post 46.
