Vivian "Carol" Phifer Obituary

Vivian Carol Phifer, age 72, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024 following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on February 8, 1952 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to her parents, Ikey Butcher and Rosie (Seabolt) Butcher. Carol married the love of her life, Kenneth Phifer, on February 12, 1968, and the two have shared 56 years together.

Carol attended Tipton High School and was in the class of 1970. Many will remember Carol from her many dedicated years of employment for Marsh Supermarket. She worked in the bakery for 30 years and was quite good at her job. When Carol wasn’t working she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved traveling with her husband, especially after they retired. Carol also valued every moment she was able to spend with her grandchildren.  She was an incredibly proud grandma! Carol made a special point to never miss any activity or sporting event that her children and grandchildren were part of. They could always count on her to be their biggest cheerleader.

In Carol’s down time she loved shopping. In fact, any excuse she could find to shop she took it. She also enjoyed taking care of her home. Without a doubt, she always had the prettiest flowers on the block. Carol’s family loved her for many reasons, but they will especially miss her sassy, fun, and direct demeanor. You never had to wonder where you stood with her, she would always tell you exactly how she felt. Carol was truly a wonderful person and will be greatly missed!

Carol leaves behind her husband, Kenneth Phifer; children, Dan Phifer (Mary Jo), Doug Phifer, Donnie Phifer (Jim); loved and cherished grandchildren, Lauren Moulder (Corbin), Daniel Phifer, Bailey Phifer (Jeanie); great grandchildren and joy of Carol’s life, Beckham Eugene Phifer and  Maeve Josephine Moulder; sisters, Barb Clabough, Judy Sinclair (Don), Kathy Yeary (Rick); nieces and nephews, Angela McMillian (Mike), Tyler Clabough, Garrett Clabough, Mackenzie Rich (Connor); as well as Carol’s beloved fur baby, Buddy Bud.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ikey and Rosie Butcher.

A visitation to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the American Legion, located at 129 N. Independence St. In Tipton.
