Wendy “Kay” Sowders
Wendy Kay-Ann Sowders, age 69, of Tipton passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2020 while being surrounded by her loving family. Kay had struggled with an ongoing illness, and her death was not covid related. Kay was born in Tipton on September 9, 1951 to her parents, Thomas Sowders & Vonda McCulley Sowders.
Kay grew up in Tipton, graduating from Tipton High School in the Class of 1969. Kay spent the majority of her life being a caregiver. She lovingly took care of her mother for many years after the death of her father and sister. Kay loved to read, watch old movies, visit the library book sales, listen to old music, and shop on QVC. Kay could also be found going for rides and getting ice cream, playing video games with her nephew, Barry, going to Dezerland, and going to garage sales with her special niece, Sherry (Yarba). More than anything, Kay enjoyed spending time with her family! She truly lived her life, dedicated to serving those she loved. Kay will be so greatly missed for her kind heart and selfless spirit.
Those left to carry on Kay’s legacy of love are her Siblings, David (Lisa) Sowders and Bonnie Ludlow; Nieces, Sherry (Mike) Welch and Megan Stowers; Nephews, Barry Sowders and Kevin Ludlow Jr.; and Great-Nephews, Jakob Baker, Ezequiel Browning and Bradey Welch.
Kay was preceded in death by her Parents, Thomas & Vonda (McCulley) Sowders; Sister, Cindy Sowders; and Brother-in- Law, Kevin Ludlow.
Kay’s family would like to extend a big “thank you” to all doctors, nurses, and Guardian Angel hospice staff who assisted with Kay’s daily healthcare. Your love, help and care were so very much appreciated!
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home in Tipton, IN. Please feel free to leave an online condolence or share a special memory of Kay with her family on her tribute wall.
