William Charles “Bill” Achenbach, age 72, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on February 5, 1952 to his parents, Joseph Achenbach and Patricia (Dunn) Achenbach. Bill married the love of his life, Margaret (Coffeen) Achenbach on September 8, 2005, and the two were blessed to spend 19 years together.
Bill graduated from Hamilton Heights High School in the Class of 1970. He went on to graduate from Ball State University in 1974 with a degree in architecture. In Bill’s younger years, he and his brother farmed together. He enjoyed the work, as well as working with his family. Later, Bill started his own business called TSI, a company dedicated to providing energy efficiency options for residential and commercial properties. Bill was an expert in his field, and he absolutely loved serving the public. He enjoyed 41 years of business ownership before he retired. Bill was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge in Tipton. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley, and spending as much time as possible with his wife and dear family.
Bill was a true leader. He led by example; and was a man of excellent character. Kindness and honesty always led the way; with his business as well as his personal life. If you had Bill’s friendship, your life was richer for it! He naturally called out the best in people; priding himself on leaving people better than how he found them. With his loving heart, and straight-shooter approach, he was able to always be the voice of reason, while offering encouragement. He was impactful and will be greatly missed by so many!
Those left to carry on Bill’s legacy of love are his wife, Maggie Achenbach; siblings, Bonnie Riddle, Tommy Achenbach; nieces and nephews, Jenna (Zach) Burger, Sherry McCloud, Craig (Michelle) Riddle, Joanna (Ricky) Plew, Jason (Heidi) Riddle; great nieces, Harper, Memphis, Josie; and best friend, Bud Sowers.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Patricia Achenbach; mother-in-law, Rosemary Coffeen; brother-in-law, Johnny Riddle; sister-in-law, Lisa Achenbach; and best friend, Barbara Dee Sowers.
A Celebration of Life visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the Tipton Moose Lodge, located at 900 W. Jefferson St. in Tipton, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
