William "Bill" Sherwood Obituary

William “Bill” James Sherwood, age 76, of Tipton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Bill was born on October 29, 1945 in Noblesville, IN to his parents, William P. Sherwood & Ann L. (Terry) Sherwood.

Bill was a Tipton High School graduate; class of 1964. He married the love of his life, Marilyn A. (Adams) Sherwood on September 18, 1965. Bill and Marilyn were the best of friends. Their friendship started when they met in 2nd grade. Their incredible love story only grew and blossomed through the years, as they shared 56 years of marriage.

Bill was drafted into the United States Navy in 1965, and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After returning to civilian life, he began working for Chrysler (Kokomo) as a fork truck driver. Bill retired from Chrysler in 2004, however he continued working. Bill very much enjoyed working alongside his brother doing farm work.

Bill was a member of the American Legion, post 46. In his spare time he enjoyed yardwork, traveling, and going for motorcycle rides through the Blue Ridge Mountains with several of his lifelong friends.  Bill was a member of Normanda Christian Church, and his faith was very important to him. Bill took time to help everyone that he could. He had a very laid back personality and had the ability to put just about anyone at ease; usually by making them laugh. Bill was simply a good man, who put his family first at all times. He will be so greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those left to carry on Bill’s legacy of love are his wife, Marilyn A. Sherwood; son, James “Jim” (Angie) Sherwood; brother, Terry (Gale) Sherwood; nieces & nephews, Heather (Justin) Sanders, Emily Sherwood, Jennifer (Chris) Morris, Jason Adams; brother in law, Larry (Wionna) Adams; great nephews, Tyler Smith & Trey Smith.

Bill was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, William & Ann Sherwood; In-Laws, Harry & Pauline Adams; sister, Patricia “Pat” Sherwood; and beloved Simon, (Bill & Marilyn’s chihuahua/poodle mix) that Bill walked every day.
