William “Dwight” Luttrell, age 77, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Dwight was born on November 27, 1945, to his parents, Ervin & Essie (Long) Luttrell. Dwight married the love of his life, Wanita Richards, on September 4, 1993. The two enjoyed 29 years of marriage and shared 5 wonderful children together.
Dwight was a 1964 graduate of Tipton High School. After high school, he joined the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. After his time in the military, he returned to Tipton and started working for Chrysler. He worked there for 40 years, retiring in 2004. Dwight was very active in the community, belonging to several local chapters. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion post 46, Shriners, Scottish Rite, and the Masons. He also belonged to Hobbs Christian Church, his faith was very important to him and played a big role in how he lived his life.
Dwight was known as a caregiver, always giving to others and making sure everyone was taken care of. He had a very sweet spirit and to know him was to love him! He was an incredibly loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was so proud of all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, making sure to support them in whatever their hearts desired.
In his spare time, Dwight enjoyed woodworking, glass engraving, mowing the yard, reading, and watching old westerns. He loved to be outdoors to hunt deer and turkey as well as fish. Dwight was a prankster and loved to make others laugh. He will be so dearly missed by all that knew him, but his spirit will live on for generations to come.
Those left to carry on Dwight’s legacy of love are his loving wife, Wanita Luttrell; children, Martina (DeWayne) Boyd, Janessa Luttrell, Jeremie (Rachel) Luttrell, Leslie Carson; grandchildren, Spencer (Kasey Keller) Carson, Rian (Alex) Wellman, Tyler (Kelsi) Carson, Caitlyn Carson, Taylor (Larry) Davis, Sydney Tousley, Kaleb Luttrell, William Luttrell, Alec Bohuk, Sydney Bohuk, Nathan Hoover; great grandchildren, Everleigh Rose, Samuel Wayne, Zephyr Onyx, Rhys Lane, Lilla, Fiona Mae; siblings, Doyle (Ruby) Luttrell, Denny (Marcy) Luttrell; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dwight was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Ervin & Essie Luttrell, and his sons, Steven Carson and Gary Carson; granddaughter, Angel Marie Bible; and grandson, Robert Anthony Bohuk.
A funeral service celebrating Dwight’s life will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 2:15 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home located at 314 N. Main St. In Tipton, with Pastor Aaron Hogue officiating. At 2:00, the Masons will perform their Masonic service. Visitation for family & friends will be held prior to the service from Noon to 2:00 PM. Committal and military honors will take place at Fairview Cemetery with the American Legion Post 46 performing the honors.
