Woodrow "Dave" Burton David Reeder

Woodrow Burton David Reeder, age 78, of Tipton, graduated to Heaven on Friday, August 12, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Dave was born on July 20, 1944 to his parents, Woodrow Wilson Reeder & Anna Louise (Borden) Brown.

Dave grew up in Tipton and graduated from Tipton High School in the Class of 1963. After graduating, he proudly served in the United States National Guard. Dave worked for Tipton Utilities as a lineman, and retired after 30 years of employment. On July 18, 1980 Dave married Doris Jean (Rood) Reeder and the two enjoyed 42 years of marriage.

Dave and Doris had a beautiful life together that many respected. They were committed to their faith, their family and of course, one another! To know Dave, was to love Dave…in fact, you would be hard pressed to find a sweeter soul! Dave was completely committed to his family. When his kids were younger, he held coaching/umpiring positions for all of their teams. In softball and baseball, he made it to state with a few teams. He was also very involved with Boy Scouts and was a cub master.

Really any family-oriented activity Dave was happy to participate in.  Camping, bird watching, and being in nature were all things Dave found very enjoyable. No matter what they were doing, Dave and Doris were generally always accompanied by at least a couple of their grandkids, but that’s how Dave always preferred it. Dave was just fun to be around. He made the simplest things in life enjoyable. He was happy go lucky and could make light of any situation. In his spare time he liked to watch Star Trek and the Twilight Zone. He was also a collector of odds and ends.

Dave drew others in with his warm and gentle nature. With his kind heart, he would help anyone in need. He was a rare breed, in the sense that his sentiments were truly sincere. Dave made this world a better place, and he will be sincerely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him!     

Those left to carry on Dave’s legacy of love are his wife, Doris Jean (Rood) Ridenour Reeder; children, David Scot (Pam) Reeder, Kelly Sue (Sean) Ridenour, April Dawn (Rob) Ridenour Johnson, Kim Allen (Julie) Ridenour; grandchildren, Josh (Carly) Sharber, Kirsten (Brad) Reeder, Brayden Reeder, Koletin Eldridge, Kade (Cassie) Eldridge, Kaleb (Maddie) Eldridge, Kyle (Maci) Eldridge, Katelynn Eldridge, Jordan (Roxy) Gregory, Kymberly (Micah) Gregory, Dillon Ballinger, Destiny “Anna Louise” Johnson, Alayna (Braeden) Fetz, Abren (Serena) Ridenour, Danielle Hudson Pope, Britany Hudson, Devin Lynch; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, John Woodrow, Richard (Susie) Woodrow; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Dave was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Reeder & Ann Louise (Borden) Brown; In laws, Alva & Murtle Rood; daughter, Shelly Lou Hudson; brothers, Darryl Reeder, Kenneth Reeder; and granddaughter, Ava Ridenour.

A funeral service celebrating Dave’s life will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St. in Tipton, with Pastor Aaron Hogue officiating. Visitation for family & friends will take place prior to the service from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dave’s honor can be made to the World Wildlife Federation or Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, to offset funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
